International Group Clubs
We act as correspondent for members of several International Group P&I Clubs, and for other marine insurers and their members. The current list of appointments is available on request.
Guidelines for Correspondents
We work to the International Group’s Guidelines for Correspondents, and take part in the Group’s correspondents’ conference.
Conflicts declared first
Anything capable of being read as a conflict of interest is disclosed to the Club before instructions are accepted, not afterwards.
A Huelva house that has worked this port since 1880
Five generations on, the work is different — cargo claims, condition surveys, crew cases — but the reason Clubs use us has not changed: we live here, we know the terminals, and we know who to call.
Liquid bulk at the Moeve terminals and at Decal in Palos de la Frontera, copper and lead concentrates at Atlantic Copper and Impala, fertilizers, cereals, steel and project cargo; Harbour Master and Port Authority matters; laboratory work. We attend in Huelva and, when instructed, in the surrounding ports.
What we do
Cargo surveys and cargo claims
Off-spec chemical parcels, contamination, shortage, wet damage, tank and hold cleanliness, sampling and sample custody, pre-loading condition and can tests.
Draft, bunker and on/off-hire surveys
Initial and final draft surveys, shortage disputes, bunker quantity and quality, ROB measurement and on-hire and off-hire condition surveys.
Crew claims and personal injury
Injury and illness on board, hospital attendance and repatriation, stowaways, and representation of owners before the Spanish Maritime Authority.
New energy cargoes
Huelva is becoming one of Europe’s green-molecule hubs: second-generation biofuels, methanol, ammonia, renewable hydrogen and the feedstocks that feed them. New cargoes bring new disputes, and we are set up for them.

Why Clubs appoint a correspondent who lives in the port
No travel time
We are in Huelva. A surveyor can be alongside within the hour, which is often the difference between documenting damage and arguing about it later.
Current port information
We deal daily with the Port Authority, the Harbour Master, Customs, terminals and pilots, so what we tell the member is today’s position, not last year’s.
One point of contact
Surveyors, laboratory, lawyers and the dealings with the authorities are coordinated from this office. The Club receives one file and one invoice.
